Floyd Austin Coakley, Sr., 76, of Laureldale Community, New Creek, WV, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, MD.

Born on November 12, 1933 at Staunton, VA, he was a son of the late Joseph and Nelcie M. (Wiest) Coakley. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Coakley and a brother, Leroy Coakley.

Mr. Coakley was retired from Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore, MD as a millwright with 38 years of service. He also served in the U.S. Army for four years.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Barbara Ellen (Brown) Coakley; three sons, Floyd Austin Coakley, Jr. and wife Judy Ann of Fountain, WV, David Allen Coakley and wife Windy March of Laureldale and William Charles Coakley and wife Kippy Lynn of New Creek; two daughters, Debra Elaine George of Burlington and Barbara Lee Gabbert and husband Dennis of New Creek; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Friends were received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.

Interment was in the family cemetery, Laureldale.
